Woodchester Manor..Part One.

Woodchester Mansion is situated at the western end of Woodchester Park, in a beautiful valley, with the village of Woodchester at the eastern end. Records of settlement in Woodchester stretch back to Roman times; the remains of a large Roman villa with an outstanding Orpheus mosaic pavement are situated in the village churchyard. Land at Woodchester is recorded in the Domesday Book and the manor of Woodchester had a series of owners in the Middle Ages. In 1564 ownership of Woodchester Park was granted by the Crown to the Huntley family of Frocester.

As we parked up the car we were meet by some greeters of the Mansion, who informed us that we would have a mile walk to the Manor, the weather was stunning, although a little chilly and this was what were treated to as we took the mile walk through the woodlands

It is said that this house is Haunted and one of the reason it is left unfinished is because in the 1800's the Manson's just left, downed all their tools and were gone! As you will see in one of the photos, the tools were just abandoned.. What, they say mad these men flee? This Mansion was also featured on 'Most Haunted'...

Lets take a walk around this amazing building....

Remember the work men's tools that were abandoned, here's just some of them..

I would love to have a fire place like that in my kitchen...

Upstairs to the rest of the house..

I will take you around the rest tomorrow..
