Woodchester, Part Two..

The floors upstairs we so uneven, almost like the top of a roof that goes to a peak, it was as if they had changed their minds and build more rooms..

I cant tell you what this was, i was standing in a doorway a floor up, no idea what it was meant to be..But look to the right and you will see a picture frame, that was massive, there was one downstairs that was a mirror..

And finally the view at the entrance of the house.. We will return to do the walk through the ground next time..

Woodchester Manor..Part One.

Woodchester Mansion is situated at the western end of Woodchester Park, in a beautiful valley, with the village of Woodchester at the eastern end. Records of settlement in Woodchester stretch back to Roman times; the remains of a large Roman villa with an outstanding Orpheus mosaic pavement are situated in the village churchyard. Land at Woodchester is recorded in the Domesday Book and the manor of Woodchester had a series of owners in the Middle Ages. In 1564 ownership of Woodchester Park was granted by the Crown to the Huntley family of Frocester.

As we parked up the car we were meet by some greeters of the Mansion, who informed us that we would have a mile walk to the Manor, the weather was stunning, although a little chilly and this was what were treated to as we took the mile walk through the woodlands

It is said that this house is Haunted and one of the reason it is left unfinished is because in the 1800's the Manson's just left, downed all their tools and were gone! As you will see in one of the photos, the tools were just abandoned.. What, they say mad these men flee? This Mansion was also featured on 'Most Haunted'...

Lets take a walk around this amazing building....

Remember the work men's tools that were abandoned, here's just some of them..

I would love to have a fire place like that in my kitchen...

Upstairs to the rest of the house..

I will take you around the rest tomorrow..

Sweet Chicken..

Look at Smudger in his warm coat, as we went for a walk at our local park, while we were there the local ducks and chickens came over to greet us a good day!

Look at this guys face, i love him! He looks so miffed at me that i had no goodies in the bag i was carrying, instead i was being a good dog owner and picking up after Smudger..

Negleted...

This is what happens when the spiders take over the garden and i can no longer get out there to keep it nice and tidy, instead its left to go wild

Notice how the spiders hide when I'm out there, and trust me there are loads of the blitters!

I did however manage to plant some snowdrops ready for the spring, these were placed into a couple of pots that were by the kitchen and there was no need for me to go there those eight legged freaks! Hate to say it, but it wont be long before the cold weather kills the off and i get back out there to sort it all out ready for the winter slumber!Anyhow iv got the next four days off work so hopefully i might be able to get out there later on in the week...

It was a Weekend ......

Reading and relaxing while the weather turned into Autumn

Even Smudger has a new coat just in time for the colder months..

Saturday 2 October 2010

Home....

.....Is where the heart is... I love these wooden blocks that you see for high prices in the magazines, so imagine my surprise when i got them for less than four pounds down Dunelm mill...

Its also that time off the year when you either light your fire or in my case, the candles... I love central heating but do i miss a real fire in the colder months

Iv been a little poorly lately so what better way to unwind then to get some sewing done.. I know that i already have quite a few sets going on in the kitchen but in my opinion to you can never have to many curtains, so here's my latest.. Don't you just love that material, almost like Cabbages and Roses but at a fraction of the cost!

And a closer look at the pattern..

Have a wonderful weekend all......
